By Aan Sehgal, Grade 10
We are losing what we should save
We all need it but we don’t care
It will slip away from our grasp
We are 8,
But not just 8
Rather, 8 billion
We are killing
Not murdering
But losing
Our Sun is fading
Not many years left
The yellow, fading away
We are hurting
Not others
But ourselves
We are taking
Not giving
What’s dying
We left something
Something not good
Something that will kill
What it will kill,
You do not know
All you know is you kill
You kill every hour
Of Every Minute
Of Every Second
You murder
Again and Again
And Again
You do not regret
Because you barely know
That you are killing
We are 8,
But not just 8
Rather, 8 billion
We have 1
No stop
Just 1
Yet still, we are killing
Yet still, we do not care
In the end, we cause our doom
We bid our world farewell
Goodbye earth,
We’re sorry.
