A Cliff of Discovery

Being pushed off a cliff is not how I imagined my day ending. No, today I was supposed to go to school, attend the student government meeting, and then go home to complete my homework. Instead, I got kidnapped by the new kid and then he pushed me down this cliff.

As I fell into the endless pit of darkness I noticed everything was moving in slow motion. For some reason I thought falling like this would be the way it feels in a dream: fast and scary. It was actually the opposite. Right before I slammed into the ground, I closed my eyes and braced myself for the impact. But it never came. When I opened my eyes I noticed that I was hovering right above the ground. Dumbfounded I looked around, and noticed the new kid hovering next to me.

“Are you a lunatic?!” I screamed.

“No,” he shrugged, “I knew this would happen.”

“What are you talking about, I could have died!”

“But you didn’t.”

“Wait a minute, why aren’t I dead right now?”

“Because, Lilah, you are a witch.”

That was the last thing I heard before passing out.
