Submissions for December 2020

Hey guys! We’ve published the first edition of the year, and now it’s time to work on the second.

We are open to art submissions until the 11th of December. The theme for this edition is “fall”. This can be about the season, the verb or anything you associate with “fall”. If you would like to work on the magazine, please contact hsingh21@isk.ac.ke.

Submissions can be sent to either hsingh21@isk.ac.ke or isk1976writersclub@gmail.com. They can be sent to these emails or shared via Google Drive.

Do not be discouraged if your submission(s) are not part of this edition, we will always have new editions, and we may roll over your submissions(s) to a different edition. We will be accepting any type of art as long as it adheres to the guidelines.

Artists will be credited for their work – first names and grades – unless they request anonymity. There is no limit on the number of submissions, but remember that not all of your submissions may be part of this edition.

Please adhere to the following guidelines for submissions:

  • The piece must be original.
  • Submissions must be school appropriate. You must be comfortable with all sections of the community (teachers, parents, alumni and students) seeing it. No swearing or disrespectful language will be tolerated. Pieces that are meant to injure or bully someone will not be considered, and be sent to the HS Administration for further consequences.
  • Written pieces cannot exceed 2000 words. Please include a word and page count at the beginning of the piece.
  • Include a cover sheet that states your name (or no name), the title of the piece.
  • Editing: Pieces should have an acceptable standard for grammar. Pieces that have multitudes of errors will not be considered. All accepted manuscripts will be edited for grammar, punctuation, and clarity. The artist will have the opportunity to review and discuss all of these edits if necessary.
  • Submissions must follow guidelines set out by the ISK Handbook, including:
    • “Student behaviors that are dangerous, intimidating, disrespectful, illegal, or that infringe on the rights of others to a safe learning experience are inappropriate and unacceptable.”
    • “Students must assume responsibility for their conduct and must adhere to the behavioral guidelines as defined throughout the handbook.”
    • “It is the student’s responsibility to behave appropriately as a student at ISK. Any inappropriate conduct will result in disciplinary consequences.”

Please note that by submitting to Elements, you are agreeing to the guidelines outlined above. If you decide to submit more than one piece, they should all be on one Google Document, including links to different types of art. Please include any notes about how you’d like your works formatted.

Remember that submissions are due December 11th, and should be sent to hsingh21@isk.ac.ke or isk1976writersclub@gmail.com after accepting the guidelines.

Happy creating!
