Ink and Opinion

June begins, dear readers, as Elements gears up for its second edition. This June is one of our most unprecendented, with the majority of us in some sort of lockdown, self-isolation or self-quarantine. Summer is coming upon the Northern Hemisphere, and many of us will be unable to enjoy it like we have previously.

Summer to me was always a time of rest and relaxation, but it does seem difficult to be relaxed while the world experiences something it never has. All of us must adapt to the new circumstances we are introduced to, and try to go with the flow. This summer will be the best chance we all have to look inward and reflect on ourselves. Summer is sometimes a time for self-exploration, while we reflect on the previous months, and how things will change in the fall.

This year is rife with discovery, as we all discover new parts of ourselves, and new ways to enjoy our favorite pastimes. This edition has a variety of artists in a variety of art forms, with three new art forms displayed. In the spirit of summer, we centered this theme around discovery and self-exploration, though not all the pieces may seem like they fit the theme.

This June has been challenging not just for us in the ISK community, but a challenging time for the world at large. We invite you to forget your worries for a few minutes or a few hours, as you immerse yourself in the artwork that has been presented here. We hope this brings you some comfort or perhaps a little joy.

Enjoy.
