Hey guys! We are open to arts submissions until the 17th of January, 2020.
The theme for this edition is “beginnings“, however, the piece does not have to uniformly align with the theme.
Submissions can be sent to either hsingh21@isk.ac.ke or isk1976writersclub@gmail.com. They can be sent to these emails or shared via Google Drive.
Please remember that we would love to have you submit to our magazine to be considered for the next issue. Do not be discouraged if your submission is not picked at first, there are always more editions. We are also open to new forms of media or different types of creative arts. We are accepting:
- Poetry
- Prose
- Photography
- Plays
- Screenplays
- Music (Lyrics or Video)
- Visual Art
- Dramatic Pieces (Videos)
And we are still open to different medias or different types of art.
Artists will be credited for their work, with first names and their grades, unless they specify their anonymity or a pseudonym.
Please adhere to the following submission guidelines:
- The piece must be original.
- No swearing or disrespectful language will be tolerated. Pieces that are meant to injure or bully someone will not be considered, and be sent to the HS Administration for further consequences.
- Submissions must be school appropriate. You must be comfortable with all sections of the community (teachers, parents, alumni and students) seeing it.
- Pieces cannot exceed 1500 words. A limit of 2 pieces per person for this edition.
- Include a coversheet on the piece, that includes your name (or no name), the title of the piece, and if it is written, a word and page count.
- Editing: Pieces should have an acceptable standard for grammar. Pieces that have multitudes of errors will not be considered. All accepted manuscripts will be edited for grammar, punctuation, and clarity. The artist will have the opportunity to review and discuss all of these edits.
- Submissions must follow guidelines set out by the ISK Handbook, including:
- “Student behaviors that are dangerous, intimidating, disrespectful, illegal, or that infringe on the rights of others to a safe learning experience are inappropriate and unacceptable.”
- “Students must assume responsibility for their conduct and must adhere to the behavioral guidelines as defined throughout the handbook.”
- “It is the student’s responsibility to behave appropriately as a student at ISK. Any inappropriate conduct will result in disciplinary consequences.
Please note that by submitting to Elements you are agreeing to the guidelines set forth, outlined above. Any piece that is seen not to comply will not be taken into consideration and sent to Administration if further review is required.
Remember that the submission deadline is January 17th 2020.
